The basic amp settings and control knobs on the Mustang I/II and Mustang III/IV/V share many similarities but vary slightly. The I/II lack "Middle" and "Reverb" control knobs (these can be control through Extra Hardware Parameter Controls for Mustang I/II), and have three preset knobs. The III/IV/V have a "Middle" and "Reverb" control knobs, and a large "Push" knob- called the Data Wheel- for controlling a wider array of amp features via the III/IV/V's LCD screen.
Below is a list of the both types of amps' control knobs and a basic explanation:
- Gain
- Simulates power to pre-amp
- Changes volume and distortion
- Emphasizes guitar's harmonics more than the Volume knob
- Volume
- Changes volume for Mustang's settings; used for leveling volume on pre-sets
- Does NOT model Master Volume (Power Amp) of simulated amp
- Treble
- Typical high-frequency band pass filter
- 0 = minimum treble (most filtering of high frequencies passing through)
- 10 = maximum treble (least filtering of high frequencies passing through)
- Middle (III/IV/V only)
- Typical middle-frequency band pass filter
- 0 = minimum middle frequencies (most filtering of middle frequencies passing through)
- 10 = maximum middle frequencies (least filtering of middle frequencies passing through)
- Bass
- Typical low-frequency band pass filter
- 0 = minimum bass (most filtering of low frequencies passing through)
- 10 = maximum bass (least filtering of low frequencies passing through)
- Reverb (III/IV/V only)
- Controls amount reverb
- 0 = minimum reverb
- 10 = maximum reverb
- When a reverb setting is pre-set, amp will use selected reverb option
- When no reverb is pre-set, III/IV/V utilizes a pre-set, default reverb option
- Controls amount reverb
- Master
- Controls Mustang amp's solid-state power amp to speakers
- Changes total volume of sound output of the Mustang amp
- Does NOT model Master Volume (Power Amp) of simulated amp
- Affects all speaker volume, including the AUX Input signal
- Presets (I/II only)
- MOD (I/II only)
- Modulation
- DLY/RVB (I/II only)
- Delay / Reverb
- Push / Data Wheel (III/IV/V only)
- Used for dialing though and selecting (push) from an array of the amp's features via the LCD screen
- Labeled on the amp as "Push", it's also called the Data Wheel.
Fender FUSE software, or the Remuda Android App , may be used for full amp control and editing.
